Toma Kami – Pressure Dome 7th May 2025
I’m a bit more out of my comfort zone with this mix from Toma Kami.
It’s part of the Pressure Dome radio show on Noods, which I listen to occasionally – sometimes I stop listening because the music is a bit too, erm, challenging, but sometimes it’s really quite cool, even if I don’t quite know what it is.
Some of the nicest music is actually before Toma Kami’s mix, by the main host of the show – tracks such as Silencio by Patrick Conway are real stand-out kind of introspective offbeat techno wobblers.
Toma Kami is a DJ/producer based in France, possibly French – not sure, who has released on the likes of Livity Sound, which will always get an ear from me.
A lot of this mix is at quite a high BPM, though it doesn’t necessarily sound like it – some depths feel structured at my normal house/techno BPM, even if they aren’t.
It’s quite raw, rough and somewhat on the techy side of things – it doesn’t neatly fit into a genre as a mix, though I’m just bucketing it as offbeat techno – but it’s way more than that, incorporating flecks of grime, post-dubstep and more ethereal sounds.
Have a listen, see what you think.
Enjoyment rating of 7.58.
