Al Wootton – Crack Mix 607

Posted: 03/04/2026

Something a bit different this week with an hour or so from Al Wootton.

A fairly new artist to me, though also he was Deadboy which is a kind of proto-garage name from the early 2010’s, when everyone was getting hyped/upset about deep house that wasn’t deep house.

As Al Wootton, his music is even harder to define – slightly abstract soundscape-esque, with experimental bass and offbeat techno influences.

It’s a very percussive mix, with languid beats slowly propelling you along – with a few of his own tracks in there like the wonder Beguine.

For me, the mix peaks towards the end with the astronomously thumping Toresch by Guayabame (possibly the other way around!).

Some really rather inventive music throughout and a really interesting mix.

Enjoyment rating of 7.39.
