DJ Mix Of The Week

The full name of this mix is actually Gogan @ Cialo Club with Priku, but I don’t want to overshadow the relatively unknown Gogan.

Gogan describes his music as somewhere between micro house, minimal techno and rominimal – which is the sweet spot for me, and this mix starts with a favourite or two from when Berlin’s minimal techno was the coolest, circa 2005, such as The Rising Scope by Matt John.

The mix progresses through various minimal sounds, it is quite bouncy and upbeat – the BPM at a relatively high clip for minimal techno, though the original minimal was faster than what you get nowadays in general, in my experience.

Gogan does send it somewhat down a house music route for a time, and there’s even a touch of garage, before sending it back into more minimal sounds.

You could argue that the mix perhaps lacks direction at times, and maybe I’m over-charmed by memories of mid-2000’s minimal, but also Gogan has a club night to run…this night.
