DJ Mix Of The Week

It probably comes as no surprise to see a podcast called minimalism featured on this blog, and this one features Crihan.

Also probably no surprise – Crihan is Romanian, though a less-celebrated part of the ro-minimal scene than some of the more rather well known names.

I’m a keen fan though. It’s not the first time I’ve featured him either, see his Sunrise Hub mix.

It’s a 2 hour mix, and goes through varying emotions of minimal – from the pensive to the hypnotic, some almost quite emotive minimal and some darker stuff too.

There’s very few tracks on here that I recognise, apart from something more on a house vibe around 90 minutes in, which Shazam insists is Claptone & Mylo…it absolutely definitely is not. And I cannot remember who it is by myself.

The latter 30 or so minutes is more house-orientated, there is a more Afro-ish house track which I’m not massively keen on, and the flow isn’t quite as smooth as earlier, but sometimes minimal does need to progress into house.
