The Hacker – Trommel 203

Posted: 21/02/2026

I’ve been a fan of The Hacker for years, having lived through what was the highlight of electro in the early to mid 2000’s – and had such fantastic music coming out by the likes of Dopplereffekt, Tiga, Ladytron, Fischerspooner – the list can go on.

But also notably by Miss Kittin and The Hacker, some absolute gems such as 1982 or Frank Sinatra:

So partly when I listen to mixes from The Hacker, I’m listening for nostalgic reasons…but also there is a genuine level of excitement still. It was kind of retro-futuristic at the time, and it still sounds retro-futuristic now, it isn’t tired at all to me.

I’d argue this Trommel 203 mix is his best for a few years.

It starts with a track from the aforementioned Miss Kittin & The Hacker, before going into the EBM-influenced sounds of David Carretta – and then tracks with a more Italo kind of influence.

The whole mix is just full of gorgeous electro tracks, I-F’s Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass, Nitzer Ebb’s Join In The Chant, Gino Soccio’s Remember – there is just an insane amount of great music here.

And then there’s this mix of Depeche Mode…oh just glorious.

Enjoyment rating of 8.63 for The Hacker’s Trommel 203 mix. Maybe I’m bored of minimal?

Or you could listen to the other mix from The Hacker that I loved.
