Mixmag – The Mix 014: Wes Baggaley
Wes Baggaley is one of those names that sounds like he’s been around forever, as though he was an originator of house music – yet that isn’t the case. Maybe it’s just a name that I’ve seen around in London a lot?
However the music style is based on what came with the originators of house, at least to start the mix, with tracks by the likes of Gemini and Steve Poindexter.
It isn’t just older styles of music on this vinyl-only mix though, with tracks by the likes of Moodymann and Legowelt also playing their parts.
The mix traverses house, with various inflections of acid, EBM and almost into techno at times. You would be best thinking of Wes Baggaley’s mix as raw, understated house.
It’s a bit of a shame that I’ve only just discovered Wes Baggaley, though there is an archive of Rinse FM mixes to go through too.
Enjoyment rating of 7.47.
